Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman, LLP represents clients in civil litigation of business and commercial matters at all levels. With strong professional and academic credentials as well as extensive trial experience in state and federal courts, our attorneys have successfully represented clients in virtually every area of civil litigation. We have extensive experience in handling entertainment industry-related disputes, whether individual or corporate, involving complex issues of all aspects of the business. We represent talent, producers and distributors in matters of breach of contract, tort, accounting, antitrust, and wrongful termination. The Department also litigates claims of defamation and invasion of privacy, on behalf of individuals and representatives of both print and broadcast media. Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman, LLP has long been one of the nation's preeminent copyright and trademark litigation firms. Over the decades we have litigated intellectual property cases on behalf of studios, producers, errors and omissions insurers, individuals and software companies. We have become increasingly involved in infringement cases arising out of new media technologies. We represent plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving securities violations, corporate fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty. In one case, we represented a plaintiff corporation for which we recovered compensatory damages and $15 million in punitive damages - then one of the largest punitive awards ever approved by a California appellate court. We also represent parties in major class actions brought under the federal securities laws. We bring particular expertise to accounting issues and partnership disputes. Our firm has represented numerous corporations, partnerships, and individuals regarding accounting for profit participations in theatrical motion picture and television product, and for record and publishing royalties. We have filed briefs in leading cases involving law firm dissolution and represent prominent entertainment entities in connection with their dissolutions. We counsel clients regarding potential antitrust problem areas as well as represent them in antitrust litigation. Along with product distribution, health care, and manufacturing, the Department has special expertise in antitrust issues arising from the motion picture licensing practices of distributors and exhibitors. Our firm represents clients, including large corporations, in products liability cases alleging manufacturing and/or design defects in commercial or consumer products, and in hazardous waste claims. We represent clients - developers, brokers and contractors - engaged in complex commercial property transactions, and individuals involved in the purchase and sale of residential property - in a variety of real estate disputes. We handle complex unlawful detainer actions and construction disputes involving residential, commercial, and recreational properties. Our attorneys engage in appellate practice, successfully handling appeals in both state and federal courts, and in such diverse fields as antitrust, copyright, fraud, breach of contract, and securities law. Because of our nationally recognized expertise in appellate practice, we have been retained to file briefs as amicus curiae on issues of major importance.
